Chinese Academy of Sciences 25MeV Proton Linear Accelerator Passes Field Test
March 11 06:06:24, 2024
[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] From June 5th to 7th, 2017, the Organizational Test Panel of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Science and Technology Task Force conducted an ADS pilot special 25 MeV proton linear accelerator jointly developed by the Institute of Modern Physics and the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Field test.
The test experts were composed of experts from the University of Science and Technology of China, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Lanzhou University, the Institute of Applied Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Modern Physics, etc. The Weifang Institute Academician Wei Baowen was the head of the test group. Director of the Department of Materials Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences Material Science and Energy Department Director Peng Zilong, ADS pilot project (project) leaders Xu Hushan, Pan Weimin, Zhao Hongwei, expert supervision team expert Yan Genming, Director of Institute of Modern Physics Xiao Guoqing, Deputy Director Hu Zhengguo, and modern physics The ADS project team members of the Institute of Research and High Energy Physics attended the test meeting. The meeting was presided over by Peng Zilong.
The team of test experts listened to the report of “ADS superconductor linear accelerator development report and field test program†by He Yuan, a member of the Institute of Modern Physics, and reviewed the test plan. He participated in and witnessed the on-site testing of ADS superconducting linear accelerator operation indicators throughout the entire process. The expert group conducted field tests on the pulse beam index on June 5, and the results showed that the proton beam energy was 26.1 MeV and the pulse current was 12.4 mA. The expert group continued on-site testing of the continuous beam index on June 6th. The test was successfully completed the following morning. The test results showed that the continuous-wave proton beam energy was greater than 25.0 MeV, and the continuous beam current was 150-200 μA, due to dose limitations. The continuous beam flow stably runs for 1 minute and stops testing. The field test results of ADS superconducting linear accelerator reached the requirement of ADS pilot specific beam energy of 25MeV, and the pulse flow intensity exceeded the design value of 10mA; and for the first time in the world, the continuous wave high power proton of superconducting linear accelerator energy of 25MeV was realized. Beams.
The ADS Pilot Special 25 MeV Superconducting Proton Linear Accelerator was developed in 2011. In the case of foreign cooperation restrictions on relevant technologies, it has always upheld an independent and innovative research attitude and the spirit of independent research and development. It has broken through a series of key technologies. Following the compliance test between the two technology route injectors, it also reached an important milestone in the research field of the international strong current superconducting linear accelerator. This superconducting proton linac will serve as an international prototype and become an international platform for conducting collaborative research on high-current, high-power superconducting linear accelerators. China’s strong current superconducting linear accelerator team continues to maintain its leading position in the world of continuous-wave superconducting proton linear accelerators, laying a solid technical and talent base for the construction of an Accelerator Driven Transmutation Device (CiADS), a major national scientific infrastructure.
