The Ministry of Environmental Protection recently announced the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant Expansion Project - Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Project (Operation Phase) Environmental Impact Report. According to the “Report”, according to the current project schedule, the construction period of a single unit is 73 months. Units 1 and 2 are completed 6 months apart. The two units are scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2015.

The Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Project uses the Lingao Nuclear Power Station No. 1 and No. 2 as the reference power station to build 2 sets of million-kilowatt nuclear power units. The design life of the power station is 40 years and the layout and construction are once planned. Moreover, in order to further improve the reliability, safety, and economy of nuclear power plants, the project has adopted a number of important technological improvements that have been demonstrated on the basis of reference power plants. After the completion of the two units, the Qinshan area will be expanded to nine nuclear power units with an installed capacity of 6.3 million kilowatts.
