Scientists successfully isolated thin and light semiconductor materials, phosphine

National Australia University recently announced that researchers at the school use tape to separate monolayers of layered phospholene, making it possible to create ultra-thin, ultra-light solar cells and light-emitting diodes.

Lead researcher at the project, Dr. Lu Yuerui from the National University of Australia's School of Engineering and Computer Science, said his team used tape separation to strip thinner and thinner crystals from black phosphorus crystals. Phosphazene is a silicon-like semiconductor that has better properties than silicon.

"Using phospholenes much thinner than silicon as a semiconductor allows us to create many interesting devices, such as LEDs and solar cells," said Lu Yue-Rui.

Lu Yue Rui said that phosphine showed a very strong luminescent properties, different thickness of phospholiphene luminescence varies widely, which also provides flexibility in equipment manufacturing. By changing the number of layers of phospholene, one can precisely control its optical bandgap, which determines the material's properties.

The research results published in the "Nature" series of "Optical: Science and Applications" on.
