In May of this year, the top ten companies selling their own brands were in order: Great Wall Motors, Geely Automobile, Changan Automobile, BYD, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Chery Automobile, Shanghai Automotive, Brilliance Automotive, Jianghuai Automobile and Dongfeng Liuzhou. Among them, the sales of the top six companies are still significantly higher than other companies, with sales exceeding 30,000 units, a total of 237,100 units, accounting for 27.65 of their total sales; while other companies have sales of less than 20,000 units.

Judging from the growth rate of the market, among the top ten companies, the sales growth of the top four car companies is obviously higher than that of other companies, and the growth rate exceeds 25%. Among them, Changan Automobile has the highest growth rate. It mainly relies on the sales of new vehicles (Yidong, CS35, Yuexiang, etc.). In May this year, its sales increased by 77.9% to 40,700 units. Geely Automobile sales increased by 40% in May. Great Wall and BYD increased by 28.5% and 26.5% respectively.

At the same time, these four companies are also the largest players in sales growth of their own brands. Their May sales increased by 48,800 units year-on-year, which is equivalent to the total sales volume of their own brands (48,600 vehicles).

Among other top ten companies, Shanghai Automotive and Dongfeng Liuzhou also achieved rapid sales growth. In May of this year, sales increased by 15.3% and 13.5% respectively. SAIC-GM-Wuling and JAC increased by 4.4% and 6.8% respectively.

Chery Automobile and Brilliance Motors both saw sales decline in May. Chery's sales fell from 48,800 vehicles in May last year to 31,100 vehicles in May this year, a 35.1% year-on-year drop. Brilliance’s car sales dropped slightly by 5.1%.

In addition to the rapid growth in sales of the top ten companies outside Chery, from January to May this year, the top ten brands of independent brands were Great Wall Motors, Geely Automobile, SAIC-GM-Wuling, BYD, Changan Automobile, Chery Automobile, JAC, Shanghai Automotive, and Brilliance Automotive. Among them, sales of Changan Automobile saw the most rapid growth, with sales of 218,500 vehicles in the first five months, more than doubling year-on-year. SAIC-GM-Wuling and Dongfeng-Liuzhou had a 30% increase in sales from January to May this year, and Geely, BYD, JAC, and Brilliance sales growth were both between 20% and 30%.
