The development of wind power industry calls for independent intellectual property rights

Not long ago, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development", which has increased support for the development of renewable energy and has set clear targets for the future development of China's wind power industry. As a result, the wind power industry in China, which has been developing slowly, has begun to exert force, and many companies have begun to invest in the development of the wind power industry. Not long ago, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan for the Development of Renewable Energy," which intensified support for the development of renewable energy, and set clear targets for the future development of China's wind power industry. As a result, the wind power industry in China, which has been developing slowly, has begun to exert force, and many companies have begun to invest in the development of the wind power industry. However, the lack of core technologies in China's wind power industry still restricts the development of the wind power industry.
Large-scale domestic wind turbine research and development lags behind
The research and development of wind turbines in China started in the late 1970s, but they did not have localization capabilities at that time. In the 1980s, it began to really develop. The only small-scale wind generators that can be produced are off-grid, mainly used for electricity consumption by farmers and herdsmen living in remote areas such as Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. The power generation is very small. Shi Pengfei, a member of the Expert Committee of China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group Corporation, introduced the interview with a reporter from the China Intellectual Property News. According to statistics from the Wind Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society, by the end of 2007, the country’s installed capacity for electric power reached 71,329 million kilowatts, of which the cumulative installed capacity of wind power was 5.906 million kilowatts, which only accounted for 0.83% of the total installed power capacity. In the wind power product market, foreign-funded enterprises accounted for 52.8% of the products in 2007, accounting for more than half of the country's total.
It is understood that at present, Germany is the most advanced country in wind power technology worldwide, and exports have become the main growth point for German wind power equipment companies. According to Shi Pengfei, at present, China has not undergone more than 20 years of field trials of mature domestic models. The development of super-large units of 2.5 MW or more is still in the prototype stage.
The R&D of wind turbines and the development of the wind energy industry started late in the country and the industrial chain is still not mature. Most of the control software and fan components still need to be imported. There is still a big gap compared with foreign countries. Xie Yuanfeng, an engineer from Beihai City Yinhe Avantis Wind Power Co., Ltd., told the China Intellectual Property News reporter.
The lack of core technology affects the development of wind power industry
Shi Pengfei pointed out that in the past 30 years, the slow development of China's wind power industry was mainly due to the lack of core technologies. In addition, the lack of experience in operating wind farms and large capital investment also affected the development of the wind power industry. In 2006, the introduction of relevant regulations and policies on renewable energy development enabled some of our country's powerful companies to see a broad market for wind energy development. Therefore, they began to increase investment in research and development of wind power technology.
According to Xie Changjun, general manager of Longyuan Power Group, in recent years, China has increased investment in wind power technology research and development, but it is still far from enough. Wind power technology is a comprehensive technology involving many categories and fields such as climate, aerodynamics, mechanical design, manufacturing, and control.
According to Yu Shaoqing, general manager of China Shipbuilding Industry (Chongqing) Haifeng Wind Power Equipment Co., Ltd., the key technology for wind turbine R&D is the system integration and overall machine design and manufacture of wind turbines. Among them, the inverter is the core component of the wind turbine and plays a key role in changing the current frequency and stabilizing the output voltage frequency. However, at present, domestic companies still have few mature products in frequency converters, controllers and other key components. They mainly rely on imports, and it is difficult to form independent intellectual property rights.
Since the core technology is not yet mature, many domestic wind power products do not perform well. Enterprises are more willing to adopt products with guaranteed quality abroad. "At present, the purchase of foreign wind power equipment requires at least 7,000 yuan per kilowatt. If products with independent intellectual property rights are used, the cost can be reduced by 20% to 30%," said Shi Pengfei.

Independent Innovation Accelerates the Development of Wind Power Industry
In response to these problems, Xie Changjun pointed out that the government should increase support for enterprises and encourage companies to carry out original technological research. At the same time, wind power enterprises should master the core technology of wind turbine design as soon as possible, and complete the transformation of localization, and eventually form independent intellectual property rights. In addition, companies must pay special attention to product quality, strengthen process management, and improve the reliability of products running in harsh outdoor environments.
In June 2007, the "Mid-term and long-term development plan for renewable energy" was announced. It pointed out that by 2020, a complete renewable energy technology and industrial system will be established and a renewable energy equipment capability based on its own intellectual property rights will be formed.
For the wind power industry, to achieve the above objectives, accelerate the ability of independent innovation, improve the level of wind turbine manufacturing technology, and create an independent brand with market recognition and excellent quality as soon as possible has become a pressing matter for wind power companies in China.
