On September 9, 2011, it was a historic moment for the HPDI engine: the first in-cylinder direct injection engine was successfully completed at Weichai Power Westport Laboratory. Third, the reliability is high. HPDI engine parts and diesel engine have high versatility, no need to change the piston and engine body, and its operation mode is the same as that of diesel engine, and the reliability reaches the level of the same power diesel engine. In addition, there is potential and higher reliability due to the low exhaust gas temperature. In addition, the HPDI engine does not require air-fuel ratio control to avoid knocking and fire. Its thermal load is also lower than that of a spark plug ignited gas engine.
