Why is the number of car recalls soaring? The relevant person in charge of the Defective Product Management Center of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that since the implementation of the defective automobile recall system in 2004, China's automobile recall system has been gradually improved, and some responsible producers are more proactive in implementing the recall and eliminating hidden dangers as soon as possible. At the same time, with the establishment of the defect information collection platform, the complaint information reflected by the user is more accurate, which helps to further strengthen supervision. In addition, since 2015, regulators have further strengthened the investigation of defects in the case of multiple producer recalls caused by the same component problem, which has led to a large-scale recall of automobile products.

The data shows that since the implementation of the defective automobile product recall system in October 2004, China has implemented 1079 vehicle recalls and recalled 25,334,500 vehicles. From the recall of the car assembly involved, the Engine assembly recalled the most, followed by the airbag and seat belt assembly, and again the electrical equipment assembly.

At the same time, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine officially announced the "Implementation Measures for the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls", which will be implemented from January 1 next year.

It is worth noting that the recall of domestic self-owned brand cars is far less than that of joint ventures and imported car companies, accounting for only about 6% of the recalls. Some insiders pointed out that the recall of self-owned brands is less related to the low proportion of sales and the small amount of possession.
