First wafer level sensor chip available
According to Jean Francois Durix, market director of Emerson Semiconductor's emerging sensor system, “The increasing integration of sensors into smartphones and tablets has formed a new wave of mobile applications. The introduction of AS7262 and AS7263 enables chip-scale spectral analysis. It has been widely used to bring about revolutionary development of spectral sensing innovations in industrial and consumer applications. On January 17, Ams AG, a leading provider of high-performance sensor solutions and analog ICs, announced the world's first cost-effective multi-channel, on-chip, on-chip sensor solution for new generations of consumer and industrial applications The spectrum analyzer opens the way. In a small 4.5 x 4.4 mm array package, the ultra-low power AS7262 visible light sensor and the AS7263 near-infrared sensor provide six calibrated spectral channels. The competitive price advantage makes this new multi-channel spectral sensor open the door for testing and use of consumer products and applications in the real world. Its main solutions include material and product certification, product quality and integrity, and material content analysis in the near infrared (NIR) and visible spectrum.
Jean Francois Durix, Marketing Director of Emerson Semiconductor's Emerging Sensor Systems, said: “The increasing integration of sensors into smartphones and tablets has formed a new wave of mobile applications. The introduction of AS7262 and AS7263 enable broad-scale spectral analysis The application brings a revolutionary development to spectral sensing innovation in industrial and consumer applications. The new spectral sensing solution greatly reduces the cost and size of spectrum analysis, and is widely used in food safety, product certification, routine testing, etc. Application to help better protect people's health and living environment."
Multispectral sensors use new manufacturing techniques that enable nano-optical interference filters to attach directly to CMOS silicon wafers with extreme precision. The interference filter technology used in this sensor has extremely high accuracy and stability. It is not affected by the use time and temperature. It is smaller and more cost-effective than the components commonly used today in various types of optical spectrum analysis instruments.
The integrated smart AS7262 six-channel visible light sensor provides calibrated digital output through an I2C or UART interface. It measures the light intensity of six different wavelengths in the visible range: 450 nm, 500 nm, 550 nm, 570 nm, 600 nm, and 650 nm. AS7263 can detect the near-infrared spectra of 610nm, 680nm, 730nm, 760nm, 810nm and 860nm infrared characteristics. Both products include an electronic shutter with LED driver circuitry, which means that the device designer can accurately control the light source and spectral detection functions with a single chip.
The new multi-spectral sensors are characterized by their small size and low power consumption, and measurement equipment OEMs can use these features to easily develop new products. For example, cumbersome lab-level analysis equipment can now be replaced by handy handheld devices. At the factory, samples produced today have to be sent to laboratories for chemical analysis from the production line. Future quality inspections can be performed on the production line with a new compact, robust spectrometer based on multispectral sensors.
