Hu Xuehao, deputy chief engineer of the China Electric Power Research Institute, revealed that the specific ideas for the construction of smart grids are to be implemented in three phases before 2020. Analysts expect that the smart grid equipment standard system being developed by the State Grid will have a major impact on the market structure of domestic equipment suppliers.

Zhang Yibin, Director of the Institute of Smart Grid Research of the State Grid Energy Research Institute, said that once a unified standard for smart grids is introduced, it is good news for domestic equipment manufacturers, because once the smart grid equipment field has rules of the game, its investment will also have Directional guidance and strong motivation will help equipment manufacturers identify product positioning and make production plans.

At present, there are already three equipment manufacturers under the State Grid Corporation. The market expects that the smart grid technology standards set by the State Grid may constitute a “preferential interest” for these three companies.
